COUPLES LIVING WITHOUT SEX AND HAPPY

When married couples live like brother and sister. No sex for years and they insist they are happy. Are they deluded - or just honest? Read and tell us what you think...

Most evenings, with their little girl safely tucked up in bed, Charlotte and Chris Everiss (pictured up) enjoy a kiss and a cuddle on the sofa in front of the television.
Happily married for a decade, the couple cannot bear to even imagine their lives without one another. Yet, astonishingly, they haven’t made love for more than two years.
Both insist that their marriage, which followed a two-year courtship after meeting on a dating website, is stronger than most. It’s just that sex, they say, is not important to their happiness.

NIGERIA GOVERNORS FORUM IN STATE OF DILEMA

Governors

Almost 48 hours after governors under the aegis of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum elected a new chairman, the battle over the control of the 36 member body still rages.

On Saturday, the incumbent chairman of the Forum, who is the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi and his challenger, Plateau State governor, Mr. Jonah Jang, both claimed to have won the poll.

The Director-General of the NGF, Mr. Asishana Okauru, had on Friday announced Amaechi as winner of Friday’s election after polling 19 votes to Jang’s 16.

Minutes after the announcement, the Akwa Ibom State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, Godswill Akpapio, addressed the press announcing Jang’s victory.

A new twist was added to the drama on Saturday, when Jang and members of the NGF who pledged allegiance to his leadership held their inaugural meeting in Abuja.

After the meeting, Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, who was introduced as vice-chairman, read a communiqué to the media.

Mimiko while reading the document said the meeting was attended by 18 governors.

He also noted that Jang as the new chairman of the body had “vowed to unite members of the forum, work for the interest of the forum and the country.”

The Ondo State governor, who spoke on behalf of the group, said the forum re-stated its commitment to continue being a platform for peer review and collaborative engagement with all levels of governments.

He said the forum also “resolved to secure a befitting permanent secretariat outside any governors’ lodge.”

All the governors, who spoke at the end of the briefing, insisted that they endorsed Jang for the election.

Those who spoke were: Gabriel Suswam(Benue), Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Akpabio, Yisa Yuguda, Shema and Peter Obi (Anambra State).

While speaking on the issue, Akpabio said, “Yesterday, even before the formal meeting of the governors’ forum, it was agreed the chairmanship of the forum be zoned to the PDP which is the party with the largest number of governors in the forum.

“There was a meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum. The decision of the Northern Governors’ Forum was announced and you need to know that as Nigerians, that chairmanship of the forum should be two years in the South and two years in the North.

“That has been the resolution of the governors. And so it was incumbent upon the northern governors’ forum to meet to bring out the leadership before presenting it to the governors’ forum.

“Yesterday, Governor Aliyu Babangida who is the chairman together with Governor Suswam of Benue came up with Jang as the new chairman and presented him to the PDP governors’ forum and accordingly, the PDP governors’ forum formally adopted Jang.

“The PDP Governors’ Forum would work with Jang as chairman and Mimiko as vice-chairman of the NGF.”

Liyel Imoke, who is the Chairman of the South-South Governors’ Forum also said, “The South-South governors participated in the process that led to the emergence of Jang.

“Of course the South-South had always stood behind this administration, we will continue to do that and we will continue to support the new chairman and his vice to succeed.

“We team up with the governor to make sure that there is no bad signal in the governors’ forum and forge ahead to ensure that we have a united country moving forward.”

Suswam, who is the vice-chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum added, “Yesterday (Friday), the meeting of the northern governors unanimously adopted the new leadership led by Jang and the northern governors are strongly behind the new leadership of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum led by Jang and supported by Mimiko, the Iroko.”

Similarly, Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema, who attended the meeting said, “Until yesterday (Friday) morning, myself and Governor Yuguda of Bauchi and Amaechi of Rivers scheduled to vie for the election.

“But in the interest of peace and prosperity, we honoured the governors’ forum as myself and Yuguda decided to step down to allow the Northern Governors’ Forum to produce a candidate acceptable to all of us.

“And the northern governors on their own decided to adopt a consensus candidate in the person of the Governor of Plateau State who was presented to the PDP Governors’ Forum and was graciously accepted and they applauded the effort of both myself and Yuguda for making sure that the governors’ forum continue to serve the interest of this nation.

“Our position is that we stepped down to honour this nation and this forum so that we can have a united front.”

In the same vein, “Yuguda said, “19 of them endorsed Jang.”

Answering questions on whether they were sure that those who endorsed Jang voted for him during the election, Mimiko said, “Go and ask those who claimed to have conducted election.”

Meanwhile, there was confusion in Rivers State on Saturday as the Peoples Democratic Party in the state recognised Plateau State Governor, Jonah Jang, as the new chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.

The state PDP, had in a briefing with journalists on Saturday in Port Harcourt, congratulated Jang on his victory during the forum’s election on Friday.

State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike, lauded the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Godswill Akpabio, for his contribution towards ensuring that Jang achieved victory during the exercise.

Likewise, Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Abraham Yiljap, said the election of Jang as the new chairman of the forum will convince all Nigerians about the state of peace pervading in the state.

He said, “Jang will bring into the NGF a sense of purpose and focus as he is the only governor in Nigeria who has occupied that office four times in a lifetime and that sense of purpose can be seen in how he has handled the affairs of the state, especially during those turbulent days.”

Reacting to Mimiko’s position on the NGF election, Amaechi maintained that the election was transparent and he was the winner.

Amaechi, who spoke through the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, said it was not possible to rig an election among equals, adding that the exercise went on without any controversy.

On the position of the state PDP, the governor added that the party in Rivers State did not have the locus standi to speak on the conduct or outcome of the election since they were not members of the forum.

He said, “You don’t rig an election among equals. You don’t rig an election and win by three votes. If anybody should complain, it should be Amaechi because his opponent picked the form few hours to the election.

“On the state PDP not recognising Amaechi as the winner of the NGF election; the truth is the state PDP has no locus standi on this matter. It is a matter among equals.

“I believe the governors who own the forum know who their chairman is. The fact is that the people in Port Harcourt and Rivers as a whole are excited over the victory.”

In a related development, Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, has berated governors opposing the re-election of Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as the chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.

He said their stance amounts to self embarrassment because Amaechi’s victory complied with the forum’s electoral rules.

Governors in Amaechi’s camp include Babatunde Fashola (Lagos); Babangida Aliyu (Niger); Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti); Rauf Aregbesola (Osun); Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo); Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun); Adams Oshiomhole (Edo).

Others are Aliyu Wamako (Sokoto); Rochas Okorocha (Imo); Umaru Al-Makura (Nasarawa); Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano); Sule Lamido (Jigawa); Kashim Shettima (Borno); Ibrahim Geidam (Yobe); Abdul-Aziz Yari (Zamfara) and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa).

It was not clear as at press time who the Governor of Kebbi State, Usman Dakingari, was supporting. LOOD Naija

80 YEAR OLD MAN THE OLDEST THAT CLIMB MOUNT EVEREST

Miura

An 80-year-old Japanese mountaineer, Yuichiro Miura, who climbed Mount Everest five years ago, but just missed becoming the oldest man to reach the summit, has finally claimed the title.

Miura reached the summit days before his rival, 81-year-old Nepalese man Min Bahadur Sherchan, is due to set off on the same climb.

Public broadcaster NHK showed footage of Miura’s daughter Emili talking with them via speaker phone in Tokyo, clapping when her brother told her they had reached the top.

“I made it!” he said over the phone. “I never imagined I could make it to the top of Mt. Everest at age 80. This is the world’s best feeling, although I’m totally exhausted. Even at 80, I can still do quite well.”

The climbers planned to stick around the summit for about half an hour, take photos and then start to descend, Miura’s Tokyo office said.

Nepalese mountaineering official Gyanendra Shrestha, at Everest base camp, confirmed that Miura had reached the summit, making him the oldest person to do so.

On his expedition’s website, Miura explained his attempt to scale Everest at such an advanced age: “It is to challenge (my) own ultimate limit. It is to honour the great Mother Nature.”

He said a successful climb would raise the bar for what is possible.

“And if the limit of age 80 is at the summit of Mt. Everest, the highest place on earth, one can never be happier,” he said.

However, if Sherchan is able to follow him, it is possible that he will only hold the coveted title for a few days. Miura’s daughter, Emili, said he “doesn’t really care” about the rivalry. “He’s doing it for his own challenge.”

The situation was not too different five years ago, when, at the age of 75, Miura sought to recapture the title of oldest man to summit the mountain. He had set the record in 2003 at age 70, but it was later broken twice by slightly older Japanese climbers.

He reached the summit on May 26, 2008, at the age of 75 years and 227 days, according to Guinness World Records. But the record eluded him because Sherchan scaled the summit the day before, at the age of 76 years and 340 days.

Sherchan, a former Gurkha soldier in the British army, first began mountaineering in 1960 when he climbed Mount Dhaulagiri, the 26,790-foot high peak in Nepal, according to his grandson, Manoj Guachan. Always an adventurer, and unbowed by age, he walked the length of Nepal in 2003.LOOD Naija

BAYERN MUNICH WINNER OF UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2013

Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben slotted in an 89th minute winner as they defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Wembley stadium on Saturday to be crowned European champions for the fifth time.

Dutchman Robben raced into the area and beat goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller in a stunning finale to the first all-German Champions League final.

Bayern, on the backfoot for much of the first half, struck on the hour with Robben cutting the ball back for Mario Mandzukic to poke home from close range.

The German champions' joy was short-lived though as Dortmund levelled eight minutes later with Ilkay Guendogan's well-struck penalty awarded for a clumsy Dante challenge on Marco Reus.

Dortmund looked to be holding on for extra time before Robben broke free to score the winner and send the Bayern fans into raptures. LOOD Naija

AFROCANDY NIGERIANS WANTS ME FOR SEX MOVIES

US-based Nigerian actress, singer, writer and model, Afrocandy, real name Judith Opara-Mazagwu, talks about her obsession with sexually explicit movies and her latest work, Destructive Instinct.

Any special reason you chose the name, AfroCandy?

I chose the name because guys call me ‘Eye Candy’. And I figured, if I’m an eye candy and I’m African, I should be an AfroCandy.

Did you do a boob job or are your breasts natural?

No, I did not do any boob job. My boobs are all mine, naturally made and given to me by my creator.

Why did you go into pornographic movies?

I’m not into pornography. I’ll say this over and over. The fact that I chose to make romance and sex scenes in my movies real should not make me a porn star. Now tell me, would you call the actors that play assassin and killer roles in movies murderers because they play such roles? Why are eyebrows being raised over this my movie? Or, is it because it has to do with sex, which is supposed to be a way of life? I find that to be sexist honestly. You can call me daring, brave, bold and beautiful. And I will like you to tell me what you call movies like ‘Basic Instinct, ‘I spit on your grave’ and the likes of them. And I’ll also like you to tell me what you may call actors like Sharon Stone, Halley Berry and co for taking similar roles in those movies before I can answer you directly.

Is there a market for pornographic movies in Nigeria?

Yes, there’s definitely a big market for my kind of movies in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, judging from the responses, requests and orders I have received so far. You already know your people, they will criticise in public but go behind to buy it and hide in their bedrooms to watch it. I’m not worried about the censors board, we got that locked down.

Have you settled issues with the guy who acted in your movie, ‘Destructive Instinct,’ and wanted to pull out?

Yes, we have settled the matter and are moving on.

What was the contract like?

I wouldn’t want to go into the details; but the bottom line is, the case has been closed and we are on to the next one.

Was the guy aware that he was going to feature in a porn movie?

Yes he was. And again, not a porn movie, but he knew he was going to get naked in the movie and he willingly did it.

Why did he want to pull out?

It’s a long story and I think I already addressed that already in one of my interviews.

How do you deal with advances from men?

I don’t deal with that at all.

What is your impression about gays?

My impression about them is, they are mostly adults, they know what is right and what is wrong and choose to do what is best for them. I guess they know what they want and what they want to do with their lives. So it’s normal.

Would you act in a gay movie?

Yes, I will. Matter of fact, I have a script for that and I guess that doesn’t make me gay now, right?

Which part of your body turns guys on the most?

Ha ha ha…thats’a very funny question, but how would I even know that? I guess you should conduct a wide search for that and maybe ask the guys for that.

Uche Ogbodo has reportedly turned down your offer to feature in a porn movie. Who will you invite to replace her?

I never even spoke to her yet, only made an announcement for an up and coming production. But I have worked with bigger and better actors and will always do; so that’s not important now.

How many films have you acted in and produced so far?

As many as possible.

Where are you from? What is your educational background?

I am from Imo State in Nigeria. As per education, I am a graduate with two associate degrees in office administration and computer science; a Bachelor’s degree in business management and a graduate in medical billing and coding. I’m also getting ready to go back to school to study law.

Have Cossy Orjiakor and Anita Joseph accepted your offer?

I wouldn’t like to disclose that, but I’ll keep you posted.

How do your daughters feel about your roles in porn movies?

I may be their mother because I brought them into the world. I may have the privilege to raise them up to adult age. But you know, I cannot tell them what to do or follow at a certain age. Besides, they are Americans who have their own minds. If they graduate from college and decide to follow my footsteps, it’s their own calling. If I can predict, they wouldn’t want to do what I do because they have better opportunities and better futures than mine. All I do now is to secure a better future for them so they don’t have to go through what I went through in my life time. Mind you, I tell my daughters everything I do. I even told them about this project, the nature of it, but I could not show them because they are not up to 18 yet. I just had to prepare them in case they run into it on the Internet, they won’t be shocked. So don’t worry about my daughters, they are the best children any mother could ever ask for and I thank God for the gift. LOOD Naija

LEONARDO DICAPRIO AND HIS FATHER'S LOOK.

Leonardo DiCaprio

"The Great Gatsby" star in France for all the festivities at the Cannes Film Festival. Sporting long hair, it’s obvious that George has the DiCaprio swagger, much like his son. George, 69, is a comic book writer, editor, and distributor. Leo, 38, is close with his dad and the two are regularly photographed together around L.A.

Though his folks split shortly after he was born in Los Angeles in 1974, the "Django Unchained" actor remains close with both parents, whom he has described as "Bohemians in every sense of the word." (His mom, Irmalin, is a German former legal secretary.)

According to ABC's "20/20," DiCaprio's father is credited with giving his son the unique name. When George and a then-pregnant Irmalin were looking at a portrait of Leonardo da Vinci in the Uffizi — a famous art gallery in Italy — Leo began kicking wildly.

"My dad, being the man that picks up on cosmic messages, said that 'His name must be Leonardo,'" DiCaprio revealed on the show. As a child, he often accompanied his father to various comic book stores in L.A., where he would distribute comics and records.

It's clear to see where Leo got his creative side.

While the elder DiCaprio has been snapped hanging out around their hotel with his son, it appears George missed out on an epic night of partying. Leo was photographed dancing up a storm on Monday at the Gotha nightclub with a mystery brunette and BFF Lukas Haas.

We wonder if George DiCaprio is where Leo gets his charm from, too? LOOD Naija

OSAMA BIN LADEN DEATH PHOTO CAN STAY SECRET - COURT OF APPEAL

(Reuters)

A federal appeals court ruled on Tuesday that the U.S. government had properly classified top secret more than 50 images of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden taken after his death, and that the government did not need to release them.
The unanimous ruling by three judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected a request for the images by a conservative nonprofit watchdog group.

Judicial Watch sued for photographs and video from the May 2011 raid in which U.S. special forces killed bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan, after more than a decade of searching.

The organization's lawsuit relied on the Freedom of Information Act, a 1966 law that guarantees public access to some government documents.

In an unsigned opinion, the appeals court accepted an assertion from President Barack Obama's administration that the images are so potent that releasing them could cause riots that would put Americans abroad at risk.

"It is undisputed that the government is withholding the images not to shield wrongdoing or avoid embarrassment, but rather to prevent the killing of Americans and violence against American interests," the opinion said.

The court ruled that the risk of violence justifies the decision to classify the images top secret, and that the CIA may withhold the images under an exception to the Freedom of Information Act for documents that are classified.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement that the ruling "would allow terrorists to dictate our laws." Fitton said his lawyers are considering what to do next. The group could ask the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the case.

A spokeswoman for the Justice Department, which represents the Obama administration in court, had no immediate comment.

The images show a dead bin Laden at his compound in Pakistan, the transportation of his body to a U.S. ship and his burial at sea, the government has said.

Some of the photographs were taken so the CIA could conduct facial recognition analysis to confirm the body's identity, according to court papers. LOOD Naija

HUNGRY WOMAN BARES BREAST AT THE COURT IN LAGOS

Culled from Punch
In a desperate attempt to draw attention to her misfortune, Esther Odozi, 21, bared her breasts on Monday on the premises of Ikeja Magistrate’s Court as she protested against hunger that was “killing her and the five children” she left back home in Agbor Owanta, Delta State.
Odozi laid half-naked on a road in the court shouting, “Hunger, hunger. Government must do something today. I have not received anything from the plenty crude oil money government is spending in our state. Nigerians are wicked.”

She impeded movement on the premises. Passersby were astonished. One of them, who did not state her name but said she was a lawyer, told our correspondent that Odozi abused the “temple of womanhood.”

Odozi shunned passersby who shouted at her to cover herself as she rolled on the ground. She revealed wounds on her left leg and the right side of her hips; she said she was hit by a car. She refused a N500 given to her by a passerby, saying, “I don’t want your money. I want Fashola to give me N200, 000.”

When our correspondent approached her, she said, “After confronting serious hardship in my state, I was advised by an official of Human Rights Commission in Delta to go to Human Rights Commission in Abuja. I also went to Police Headquarters and NAPTIP (National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons) in Abuja. They all told me to go to Lagos; they said that is where I could get help.”

“My husband, Donald Ogbaja, was a retired policeman before he died of hunger. He married me when I was 17. I bore five children, including twins for him.”

Odozi said she tried to survive on her own by cultivating some crops. She, however, said she was hit by a car and had been hindered by her injury to continue working on her farm.

She said, “I will not leave this court without seeing N200,000 to start business. I want to sell melon and garri. Tell Emmanuel Uduaghan, the governor of my state, and the Federal Government to do something about my condition. They must give me part of the petrol money. I must take care of my five children.”

When she was asked that as a young woman, didn’t she feel ashamed to bare her breast? She answered, “I don’t have anything and I don’t have anything to hide anymore.” LOOD Naija
